Rambling on quiet footpaths is a nice way of experiencing the very divers French countryside. All along Tarn river nature will please bird- and plant and quiet lovers. ast and under the viaduct of Millau (a beautiful design of a British architect) you will walk into Pays de Roquefort and Tarn valley.From Millau you walk in Western direction under the Millau viaduct in a loop of several days back to Millau.


Towns and interesting places along the walk:
St. Georges-de-Luzençon - Viaduc de Millau - St. Rome-de-Tarn - Castelnau Pégayrols - Viala-du-Tarn - Ayssènes - Montjaux - Millau

  • 5 to 8 trekking days with option of extra (rest or walking) days.
  • Superior (B&B+all dinners in ** and *** hotels and one ***gîte).
  • Walk: grade 2 to 3 on scale 0-7.
  • ***  and ** Hotels with toilet and shower/bath en suite in room. One ***gîte with pool.
  • Dogs allowed without extra costs.
  • Start and end in Creissels at 2 km from Millau from March 15th to October 31st.

In a Provence like scenery you'll walk over the Larzac Causse to medieval towns such as St. Rome-de-Luzençon and St. Rome-de-Tarn.

In Tarn valley you'll walk to Castelnau Pégayrols, a UNESCO protected site. In a beautifull guesthouse with pool you'll stay one or two nights.

Past a small hamlet in a dead-end valley and after a climb to Montjaux you will enjoy the farsights on Causses, the Cevennes Mountains and the Millau Viaduct.

Starting day: every day.

Elevation gains: once or twice 200 - 400m a day

Day distances: 11-21 km. A daily maximum of 14 kms is possible. Ask for it at booking.

As with all other tours of La Ligne Verte you'll spend 90% of the walk on (single) tracks and unpaved roads. Villages you will pass are old (houses and churches from 14th century) small villages with up to 200 inhabitants. Millau is a town with 20000 people. In between the villages, with the necessary stores, you will pass farms but will need to take your lunch with you. The hotels can provide a take away picknick (price € 8,- to € 12,-).
You will walk 3 to 4 kms an hour.

Arrival in Millau and short or long roundwalk to the waterfalls  of Creissels. Do do the long round walk you should arrive in the morning or else book an extra night.

From Tarn valley up the Plateau du Lévézou. Panoramic views on the Causses, the viaduct and the Cevennes. A round walk to Viala-du-Tarn or to Montjaux. Past a very picturesque village in a remote dead end valley and some menhirs arrive again in St. Rome-de-Tarn.

Walk from Viala-du-Tarn (after a transfer) via Ayssènes to Melvieu in the Raspes du Tarn.

Walk up the slopes of the Tarn through the beautiful valley of the Muse. Past Montjaux and Castelnau Pégayrols, a Unesco labeled  town. Overnight in a *** gîte with pool.
