The H23d is a spectacular walk through the Causses du Larzac and the Causse Noir, (a causse is a limestone plateaus), and you'll be walking through the magnificent canyon de la Dourbie and the Jonte.

Halfway you'll come back in Millau and after will be heading into the Tarn valley, past the new Millau Viaduct.

Beautiful scenery, lovely footpaths and remote treasures will be your daily bread...

The route will lead you to access magical places. Here, every step takes you to a visible trace or human history like the centuries old stone-built houses, the lovely villages built during Middle Ages, the awesome monuments or cave-dwellers from prehistoric times.

The main part or the region is built upon a limestone plateau cut by deep valleys and in May and June covered with orchids and with small white oaks.
This is a hiking region par excellence, designed for those who are willing to walk up to 23 kms and 7-8 hours a day. If you want to enjoy this spectacular walk but not the long distances, we can arrange for more transfers.

Characteristic ***hotels, good food, nice ambiance, splendid nature, the spectacular scenery of canyons. And a mix or prehistoric, even dinasour times (you'll walk in their footprints!), roman and modern times (the beautiful Viaduc de Millau designed by the British architect Norman Foster.

The 8-days hike starts with a walk from Millau to the Dourbie canyon, over the Causse du Larzac. Next  a  walk over the Causse Noir to Le Rozier. Day 4 (transfer to the Chaos de Montpellier-le-Vieux with its bizarre rockformations) past spectaculair but safe abysses back to the dynamic town of Millau or Creissels.
 

Next part is a walk over the Causse du Larzac and past the viaduct of Millau to St. Rome-de-Tarn. Last 2 days you will be walking up 400m to the plateau du Lévézou via Montjaux and Castelnau-Pégayrols.  
With an extra stay in Le Rozier you will be able to walk past the famous Vase de Sèvres in the Gorges de la Jonte and in the Gorges du Tarn.
