  • 6, 7 or 8 days light walking in Dordogne valley with bags transfer. If you want a restday or staying an extra night in one of the hotels of the trip you can book extra nights in any of the hotels.

  • Short distances: 15, 11, 18, 16, 19 (or less with a transfer), 15 km in the 8 days, 7 nights, 6 days walking trip. Light walks: elevation gains of max 130m per day.

  • The walk takes parts of some PR's (Petite Randonnées), the GR46, the GR652 and the GR6

 

Find the path of the river Dordogne in the Quercy of  Lot department alternated with the Causse du Quercy, a smooth limestone plateau with open scenery on top of the causse. Not as polished as the scenery of the Dordogne department.
Rocamadour a famous tourist attraction of France with its beautiful small canyon of the Gorge de l'Ouysse and the beautiful Dordogne valley provide the scenery for a nice walking holiday. You'll see beautiful medieval villages like Souillac, Martel, Carennac and Rocamadour. And in Martel you can make a ride with the old train along the cliffs of the Dordogne.

In Souillac you can leave your car in a secure parking of the hotel at € 8,- per night.

Souillac - St.Sozy Along the Dordogne you walk to St. Sozy" par la falaise" under the overhanging cliffs.  You pass a prehistoric shelter/cave. 15 km
St.Sozy - Martel Going up the the hills of the valley you ll have the view of the picture above on the valley.In Martel the 7 towers and the nice market place of a medieval city. Ckick the banner for some very nice pictures of Martel

Martel - Carennac Going down again to the Dordogne river you walk past the banks of the Dordogne through orchards with walnuts
In Carennac: Renaissance houses with sculpted windows and brown roofs are clustered around a Cluniac priory where French writer and prelate Fénelon once lived. Near the Romanesque church and its cloister, the Château des Doyens invites you to discover the treasures of this Pays d’Art et d’Histoire-labelled region to which Carennac belongs.

Carennac - Rocamadour   Walk to the Cirque de Montvalent followed by a transfer to the quiet of hotel with a pool in Rocamadour. Rocamadour the second pilgrims place of France. See the picture above and France travel guide for more details 16 km
Rocamadour - Meyronne   Walk through the Gorges de l’Ouysse.After 9 km you can have a drink at the Moulin de Caugnaguet.The mill was built in the first half of the 14thC and was run for a long time by Cistercian monks. It has 4 pairs of millstones, which mainly ground wheat and, later on, maize as well. It worked from 1350 until 1959 and is now protected as an Historic Monument. Alongside the crystalclear water of the Ouysse you come in Lacave (cave visit) and Meyronne. 19 km
