Hi Frans

Just a short note to thank you for a very enjoyable holiday.

All the arrangements were perfect and I enjoyed the routes.  I tried to do the longer, and hillier(!), options most days, and the scenery on them was wonderful.

As far as the hotels were concerned the food was excellent - had it not been for the cycling I am sure I would have put on a lot of weight!

Meeting you was an added pleasure - which helped compensate for the wet weather that day!

Again very many thanks - I hope to be able to contact you again at some future date.

Larry walked the H33 from Albi to St.Affrique and back to Albi.

We had a wonderful trip and would like to thank you for putting it together.  The Luberon was quite something.

Hi Frans - Again, I only have praise for this absolutely AWESOME!! cycle tour - each stage was magnificent.   From Avignon to Venasque and into the northern foothills of Ventoux to Buis les Barronies and over to Sault (via Col de Fontaube) - we then chose to go " up and over" Ventoux....just amazing....(challenging on tandem) to Vaisson.   From there a total contrast (beautiful)- made our way to Chateauneuf-du-pape - Uzes to Frezzac (Cevennes)-  on to Montpellier- and the sea-side resort of Ste Marie de la Mer (Carmague with white horses and black bulls).   Making our way back and stopping over at wonderful hotel in St Remy - this was a real treat.

Hotels were excellent with very friendly staff - some - with a welcoming swimming pool.  Food was outstanding everywhere.

Thank you so much for organising a superb cycling holiday - loved everyday many happy memories and much fun

Fond regards - Bert and Carol Bard (Johannesburg, South Africa). Carol and Bert made a 15 days luxury cycling tour in Provence and Langedoc. (Their fifth bike tour with La Li gne Verte!)

Hi Frans,

This is just a short mail to thank you for organising such a stunning
cycling trip for Karen and myself.

Everything worked out perfectly. The weather was superb, the scenery was
fantastic, the cycling was challenging but very enjoyable, and the
organisation behind the scenes was very slick.

We are already dreaming about when we can do it all again.

Frans, this thank-you note is long overdue.  Judy and I wanted to drop you a short note and say that we had a great time touring the Southern Rhone in France and want to thank you for the very important part you played in making that happen.  There were 9,999 things that needed to go right for our trip to be a success and you brought them all together.  In no particular order some of the highlights of our trip include;

  • Olivier Hickman the wine tour guide you directed us to was great, knew his stuff well and really opened our eyes and ears to the wonderful world of wine
  • The bikes from Cyclix worked out excellent, and Phillippe made a special trip late on the Sunday night to install the pedals with clips for us.  First class effort and we appreciated it very much.
  • Getting our luggage moved from place to place without incident was something we counted on and thank-you for making it happen.
  • The rooms and meals were great, we especially liked the ambience, room, location and staff at Hostellerie le Beffroi that was our favourite and most memorable spot.  The hostess with smiling eyes at Le Relais du Mont Ventoux made us feel welcome, the Auberge du Vieux village d'Aubres was almost empty but we were treated very well and enjoyed the fantastic location with incredible views. The host and hostess – Christine and Patrice at Le Prèsbytère (Saignon) were very special, they invited us for dinner at their home when the restaurant arrangements didn’t work out.

Attached is a picture that we took when one day at Hostellerie le Beffroi we decided to challenge Mount Ventoux.  What a thrill, we were tired for days afterward but it was something we will never forget.
Thanks ever so much for looking after us and allowing us to have a memorable and successful 20th anniversary vacation.

Now – in 2008 we are wondering if there are other trips that you might be able to arrange, another cycling trip that would offer a similar experience based on Bordeaux or Burgundy?  Please tell us what options you have that we might be interested in.

One of the things that we really appreciated apart from the French environment, the scenery and wines was that in France cyclists have - or more importantly are given the right of way.  NOT SO in Toronto, a cyclist feels like a target!

Dear Frans, Francine & Family,

We write to let you know that we made it back to the States, and to thank you for a wonderful experience.  All of the hotels and meals were fantastic.  Our bikeride into Nimes was a great day- a tailwind blew us into the city quickly.  I hope our bike boxes didn't cause you too much trouble.  The airline in Rome also found them troublesome.  Please keep us in mind if you decide to travel to New York.

Best wishes- Rebecca and Sal

Hi Frans and Francine,
An amazing 13 -Stage cycle tour- thank you for planning this tour of incredible contrasts -
In Provence - loved the ancient villages of Avignon,Gordes,Venasque and Vaison le Romaine.
We cycled up the Mont Ventoux (from Malaucene) - What an amazing experience that was.
Descended down to Sault (hotel great!) - then through Gorges de la Nesque and in to the Luberon (Saignon & Les Baux)
Our stay in Fressac was very memorable with Luke and Delilah in their stunning home in a secluded valley.
Onto Chateaux Madieries (Charming).   Big challenge through the Cirque de Navacelles (Cevennes Mnts) -indescribably beautiful.
Then the Chateau Ayres  (Meyruis) and Chateau de la Caze- in the Gorges du Tarn - Riding alongside Jonte and Tarn rivers.(Splendid!)
Heading back through Millau, Madieries, Nimes to Avignon
Our rooms were exceptional- the french food superb in those majestic diningrooms. (especially in the Chateau's)
The cycling was challenging- and exhilerating- MEMORIES  FOREVER!!
So good to see you both again.
A  CYCLE TOUR OF A LIFETIME!!! -

Frans, we are sorry to be so late in sending you this note about our cycling trip this past August in the Dordogne Valley. We were very pleased with the way things turned out for our two families. The accommodation was ideal, the food was excellent, the directions crystal clear and the routes were very well selected. The pickup at the airport worked well and the luggage transfers each day went off without a hitch.

I was particularly impressed by the way you resolved the equipment problems I was having with my rental bike. No sooner was the email sent than someone showed up to remedy the problem!

All in all, a great vacation. Laurie is pushing hard for a walking tour with you next summer! Thanks so much.

Hi Frans and Francine,

My wife, daughter and I have just arrived back in Australia following our UK/France tour which included our cycle tour of the Dordonge. We would like to thank you for your  wonderful planning and organisation which made the tour a highlight of our holiday. The tour route was obviously very thoughtfully planned to make the most of the beautiful scenery but also allow a predominance of easy cycling so we could enjoy our surroundings. The hotels you have selected were just fabulous - wonderful service and meals which were among the best we have enjoyed anywhere. Special mention to La Vielle Auberge in Souillac for their overall helpfulness and unsurpassed restaurant and to Hotel Plaisance, Vitrac for their service and wonderful restaurant also. We enjoyed our stay at every hotel but these two deserve extra thanks.

We cannot wait to arrange another tour and will be recommending your tours to our friends in the cycling world here. My wife and I have done a lot of cycling but our 13 year old daughter - although quite fit from swimming - had done very little touring by bicycle. By the end of the week she could not wait for our next tour! It really was a wonderful trip and your excellent planning and organisation were greatly appreciated. The bikes were excellent as was the friendly service provided by the bike shop in Souillac.

There are a couple of suggestions for changes I would make to the instruction sheet to further improve this very helpful resource:.............................

Dear Frans and Francine,
we wanted to write to you straight after our return, but were right
back into work and have been very busy.
The trip has been wonderful, thank you for selecting all the hotels
and organising the luggage transfers, which certainly made the cycling
a lot easier. Although we thought of ourselves as reasonably fit
(regular running), we hadn't actually been on a bicycle for 18 months
- and it showed! Thank you for changing the hotels in the second week.
We simply needed a rest day earlier and realise that it can't be easy
to arrange all these changes at such short notice.
The hotels and food were fantastic, particularly the Gite in
Bruniquel, Cordes, St Rozier de Tarn and Plaisance. The area is
absolutely charming and we would recommend to everyone who is fitter
than us!
Day 6: We did Meyrueis to Nant by way of Mont Aigoual, on a good day (not too hot).
The D151a is one of the loveliest biking roads I've ever done

Many thanks again for all your work.
Yours,

Dear Frans:

Kathleen McMorrow & I returned from France a couple of days ago.

I wanted to report to you about our Gorges du Tarn biking tour, 17-25 June.

First of all, many thanks for the expert planning and execution of this tour program.

The hotels were delightful, and the baggage transfers were managed smoothly and efficiently.

All we had to do was pedal!

The tour touched on many of the most spectacular scenic areas of France, and though the roads were challenging

(les Grands Causses after all are mountains!) the terrain had constant highlights.

We took home many photos.

That there were no problems with the bikes was also a pleasant part of the experience.

It was altogether a splendid week for us.

John and Kathleen biked the B11-plus 9 days.

Re: Cycling or walking tours in September and October with La Ligne Verte
Sorry that I have not got back to you about the walking tour we did in april. We were the 2 australians . We would like to give you some comments ...not sure how helpful they might be . the walk was great but it is realy a hike here in australia as it was quite heavy going in places. it would be good to advertise the historical aspect of it for australians as for us the villages were magical....we do not have the historical villages that you took us through. the places we stayed at were great  and the food terrific. we loved staying at the Gite...in fact it was one of the highlights as the owners were so hospitable and made us feel very welcome. you might also need to tell australians more about what gear to bring for walking as we were very cold walking on the first day when it almost snowed .we are not used to the snow conditions!! A walk here is usually on flat ground and we were not prepared for the trerrain!! but have been recommending the walk to others to do as even though we shortened the walks......offering shorter walks would also be good..........we thoroughly enjoyed the time in the sth of france .

Dear Frans,

Hello again,   I, wanted to let you know what a great time we had on our two trips,  Corsica was beautiful and we enjoyed it very much.  The Dordogne, was just what we were looking for, lots of mid evil villages and a beautiful country side.  I hope in two years we will be back to ride with you again.  Thanks again for all your help.

Dear Frans
Just to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip to the Bastide villages in the Tarn and Aveyron Regions. Najac was certianly worth the ride!
The bikes were excellent, accommodation very good at every village , except in St Antonin but the lady was happy for us to take a bigger room twin beds thank goodness, as the double rooms are extremely small. At each hotel we found the people very helpful and friendly which makes such a difference.

We really enjoyed our dinners at the restaurants you arranged and met up other La Ligne Vert bikers - Fritz and Olga Haak, and Carol and Bert Bard in Cordes where we all had a delightful dinner and evening together.
Despite the bad weather that we experienced during the week, we still followed your suggested route on the back roads where the scenery was beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed the biking and walking up some of those hills that go on forever! The downhill rides were wonderful and made the uphill effort worthwhile!

Overall our cycling holiday surpassed our expectations and thank you for the professional way you organised it - we appreciated your "welcome folder" with the detailed map and accompanying information and brochures on the areas we were visiting.
We will certainly book future cycling holidays with you.
Best regards
Cherie and Glenn Goodhue   (from Auckland, New Zealand).

Dear Franz,

My companions and I wish to thank you for the wonderful experience we had walking the Santiago de Compostella trail. We where celebrating our 60th birthdays and the hikes where challenging at times but so very beautiful it was worth the extra effort. The Hotels where all very charming and of course the food was great. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful in spite of our very poor French. We personally feel that you can't form an opinion of a country until you've walked through a part of it's countryside and met the locals. And in our collective experience the majority of the people we met in France are gracious, beautiful, and hospitable.
We would love to try another of your tours someday soon.

Sincerely Lynette Kovacovich

Dear Frans and Francine,

Just a short note to say thank you for all your work in providing us with a wonderful walking tour last Sept.  The country side was truly beautiful and the places we stayed were varied and very interesting.  We know we saw so much that we would have missed going any other way and having Francine so close and able to answer all our questions was a great help.  Please keep me on your mailing list,  We can always dream about returning someday!

Sincerely,

Dear Frans & Francine,

Excuse me, I've been meaning for several weeks to take a few
minutes to thank you for the absolutely wonderful time we had
hiking in France. My husband was a little skeptical as to what I was
getting him into, but he came away totally impressed. Not only was
the orginization great, we really enjoyed the fabulous hotels and
chateaus and we're so glad we splurged on the luxury week. This is
probably the best food we've ever had in our lives! Even the
non-luxury week was quite excellent, except for Esperac, but it was
easy to see it is the only place between two points and Conques and
the St. Foy more than made up for it. You are providing a wonderful
opportunity to see and experience an unexploited (so far) area of
France. Although it's not the customary perception of the French,
everyone we came in contact with could not have been kinder or
more helpful. I really hope we can do some more trips with you in
the future!!!

Dear Frans and Francine

It's hard to believe that it's been about a month since we left the Tarn
Valley. On the one hand, our memories of the valley are so vivid; on the
other it seems like we were there a long, long, time ago. But each time we
remember our trip, look at our photos, and tell stories and try to tell our
friends where we were, we are again flooded with wonderful memories of a
wonderful and special part of the world.

Attached are two to two on line photo albums from our trip to France, many
of them taken in the Tarn Valley and on the way to and from St. Affrique.
Feel free to use any you want on your website or to direct potential
clients to these albums (or to us directly).

And again, thanks for arranging such a wonderful trip.

Hello Frans:

Just wanted to thank you for the terrific tour you put together for us through the Provence area. The hotels you selected and the travel itinerary you designed were fabulous. The scenery along the Cotes du Rhone, through the Gorge de le Nesque, and from the top of Mount Ventoux was breathtaking. The historical towns we visited and the quality of accommodation you arranged was just what we had hoped for---not to mention that the dinners you arranged for us along the way were equally incredible. It was great to arrive at each destination and find our luggage delivered directly to our rooms. Thank you so much for customizing this tour to meet our interests and needs. Look forward to another tour next year.

Kind regards,
